Flying to Memmingen - a pleasant experience

Apart from the fact that the Ryanair flights to Memmingen often leave at a very early hour of the day from Stansted, the journey to Berwang via Memmingen is easy.

 

The airport itself is small and getting through passport control, therefore, takes very little time. The bus to the train station leaves from right outside the exit of the airport and costs around €3. The train journey, which includes two changes - at Kempten and Pfronten-Steinach, takes a couple of hours and is stunningly beautiful. The ticket says exactly at which platform the train will arrive and from which platform the next train will leave - almost always these are adjoining platforms with around a 10-minute wait and a 10 metre walk!

 

One really important bit of advice: have written down Bichlbach-Berwang to show to the people selling you the ticket. They are often not aware of Bichlbach and have been known to issue tickets to Bickenbach - not where you want to go!
